Project and Technical Engineering contracts in the Automotive Industry
Our Clients are looking for a good engineers and managers, skilled at developing and managing projects and their timing – the contract duration is long term – and our experience, so far, is that contracts are being extended on a rolling basis for good engineers as well as there being opportunities for contractors to be taken on full time.
Ideally you should be an experienced Automotive Engineering contractor, currently looking for a long-term assignment, but similar Project Engineering experience within Passenger Aircraft, Aerospace, Leisure Marine Craft and Passenger Rail Rolling Stock where your experience reads across into Vehicle Manufacture will be useful too – since these transport systems also use seating, interior and exterior trim, lighting, electronics, harnessing, infotainment, control systems & power and so on.
Applicants from outside the EU cannot be considered unless immediate proof of current Visa and Work Permits can be supplied with your application.
Ideally you will be a Project Engineer / Manager with experience gained at one of the important vehicle manufacturers – Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Bombardier, Alstrom, BEA Systems, Westland, Airbus or their various component suppliers.
You will be taking charge of a project and bringing components or systems into prototype and job 1 and eventually production following concept, design through development. You will be vetting suppliers and monitoring the suppliers work from order placement through to tooling manufacture and approving the equipment they will use and the products they are making. Also buying off the quality of product, the capacity of the equipment being used. You will be enlisting the assistance of other in-house departments such as Quality, Design, Development, Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement. So your ability to work well with other people is essential.
Experience in one of the following would be useful. Cockpit, Fascias & Cabin Systems, Durability and Reliability, Electronics, Hybrid Technology, (Motors, Batteries, System Controls etc.), HMI (human machine interface), Ergonomics, Exhaust Systems, Trim, Plastics, Lighting, HVAC (heating ventilation and air conditioning), Simulation, Powertrain, Chassis & Suspensions, Component Engineering, Infotainment, BIW / Body Construction, Glass, Doors and Closures, Fuel & Cooling, Seating, Prototype & ETO (Engineering to Order), CAE, Software, NVH (noise vibration and harshness) and so on.
Working knowledge of one of the Ford / Jaguar / Land Rover project delivery and design release processes such GPDS / FPDS / PPAP. AIMS, WERS, PACN FPDS, GPDS EFDVS, DFMEA, APQP and DVP, PNR, CATIA V5, CAE, NVH, & Development will also be useful but not essential.
