Our client is a luxury automotive manufacturing company based in Chichester, who has a new opportunity for an Assembly Planner – Project Integration.

The role

Assembly Planner (AP)

The assembly planner (AP) assumes the responsibility for implementing manual processes, special tools, jigs, fixtures and equipment into the Assembly Hall as well as documenting the process for the assembly personnel. The assembly planner is also responsible for evaluating any product/process changes during product upgrades, engineering changes or new product launches.

The Assembly planner is also responsible for the procurement and proof of equipment and tooling capability studies to ensure the product quality requirements are met. The assembly planner will be assigned a specialist area of responsibility of the car at is expected to integrate themselves into the worldwide network of planners responsible for the same specialist area.

The Assembly Planner is also responsible for risk management at his/her plant and the installation of all process security measure to ensure the correct build quality of the car (process security). The Assembly planner is responsible for planning the finances (Product Invest, Structure Invest, and Budget) needed for the completion of the processes.

Other areas of responsibility

* Supports the concept of special tooling, jigs and process relevant equipment
Communicating with the specialist teams worldwide to support the wider business and drive process improvement within the plant
* Introducing relevant process optimisations and requirements from the specialist teams into the plant
* Creation of process documentation for the assembly line including the introduction of group standards into the plant
* Implementation of processes for machine and variant control and associate information systems (Process security i.e.. Scanning process etc)
* Regular coordination with relevant interface partners in the plant (assembly industrial engineers, production, finance, purchasing)
* Regular coordination of external partners (Facility manufacturers, tooling suppliers etc)
* Processing of plant specific quality problem management points
* Coordination of hardware requirements (special tools and equipment) planning within the plant and vehicle projects.
* Processing of the launch process documentation and updating timelines and project deliverables in line with the vehicle project teams.
* Processing and implementation of all incoming changes required by engineering and product changes

Skills and experience required:

* Manufacturing experience of greater than 2 years is desired (Automotive manufacturing would be preferred but is not essential)
* Work experience in an Assembly environment is desired
* Prior use of BMW systems for Assembly Planning is desired (but on the job training will be provided for those without this knowledge)
* Strong communication skills required, both verbally and in writing.
* German Language skills of strong advantage.
* A successful candidate must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Equivalent.

Additional Job Information

Assembly Planner – Project Integration:

* Function as a liaison between project planning team, series planning team and Production team
* Securing and providing all necessary project conditions for the planners
* Supporting/ensuring the transfer of the process planning data into the plants (i.e. MAPP and COPS-transfer)
* Equipment- / SBM- / Tool Monitoring. Ensuring all deliverables are handed over according to process.
* Steering the processing of the PQM-points, which are to be resolved by the TMO.
* Carrying out and keeping track of the process evaluation index (Prozess-BI) including Workshops in all phases till the end of phase 6. (ItO)
* Execution and keeping track of the process evaluation index (Prozess BI) in the SB/WE till 3 months after the LCI SOP
* Ensures the compliance with the methods. Organises all required technical system parameterisations (e.g. COPS: Set up the project, MAPP: Set up the derivatives; MIP: User rights management for planners and the setting up of the product lines, etc.)
* Coordination of hardware requirements for the TMO validation events for the BBG-build and plant integration phases (VPS vehicle, Integration Vehicle, Dynamic validation area, Trainings requirements, Capability checks) and for equipment validation and equipment commissioning
* Supporting in Processing of PQM-points (control loop 0), which are to be steered and solved by the TMO; Participation on PQM-rounds in the FIZ and plant
* Organises and participates in the workshops for the definition of the Assembly Sequence
* Organises and participates in the VPS-Vehicle Event and Integration-Vehicle workshops together with the method responsible person as per the method description.
* Steers the workloads as per the corresponding phase of the TMO Phase Model together with project QPP
